Looe Harbour & River

Looe

Looe itself provides a myriad of activities and interesting things to see ranging from rock and sea fishing - including shark-fishing, golf - with five quality courses within 40 minutes drive, tennis and bowls - near the hotel, plenty of walking both coastal and countryside, the beach - right in town, and of course the many quaint shops.

Looe is also an excellent base from which to visit the many tourist attractions and enjoy some of the loveliest parts of Cornwall.

Polperro, Fowey & other excursions

The picturesque fishing village of Polperro is just 15 minutes away by car or a spectacular 2½ hour walk along the coastal path. Fowey and Polruan, twin towns connected by ferry are close by together with historical towns of Bodmin, Liskeard and St Austell.

Plymouth with its famous Hoe, new National Marine Aquarium, yacht harbours and full range of shops and stores is just 17 miles or a 40 minute drive while the Cathedral City of Truro is a one hour drive in the opposite direction. Inland, Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor offer unrivalled walking and nature opportunities while the North Coast of Cornwall around Tintagel has spectacular scenery.

Trebah House & Gardens

Cornwall's Gardens

The Eden Project, just a 30 minutes drive away, continues to be a spectacular attraction with its stunning Biomes containing a wide range of plants from Tropical to Mediterranean. We keep "fast track" tickets in stock.

Cornwall has become renowned in recent years for its Great Gardens. Many laid down in the last century and then neglected have been revitalised and provide a wonderful day out for the keen plantsman or garden lover. The Lost Gardens of Heligan have received much coverage in the press and on television, and are a fascinating place to visit. Others are equally spectacular such as Trebah, set in a hidden valley and Glendurgan with its famous maze.

At their best in the spring (March and April in Cornwall!) the visitor will see a huge range of camellias, rhododendrons, stately palms and bamboo and tender plants not grown anywhere else in the UK. Alongside the magnificent Cornish gardens, the many National Trust properties are a must to visit and Llanhydrock, Antony, Mount Edgecumbe and Cotehele are all an easy drive from Looe and The Fieldhead.
