The Thelbridge Cross Inn is a picturesque, family-run country inn located
amongst the glorious rolling hills of Mid-Devon. It dates back to the
1700's and is built of stone and cob, with beamed ceilings and open log
fires. It still has that old world feel about it today, especially when
the Lorna Doone stagecoach arrives with passengers who stop off to sample
the outstanding cuisine and genuine warm hospitality. The inn boasts fabulous
countryside views, and on a clear day, Dartmoor can be seen to the south
and Exmoor to the north.
Thelbridge is a rural hamlet, off the beaten track, two miles from the
village of Witheridge which lies on the B3137 between Tiverton and South
Molton. Thelbridge is made up of mainly farms and a few scattered cottages,
and the Thelbridge Cross Inn is at the heart of rural life here. Thelbridge
Church is just a short walk down one of the several pretty country lanes
around the inn which can be explored by visitors.
The Thelbridge Cross Inn's location is at one of the most central points
in Devon, offering easy access to the whole county, and visitors find
it is an excellent base for exploring the wide range of attractions which
Devon offers.
